I have a new grandson. He came very early and was in the NICU.

My mom died. She lingered on hospice for 2 or 3 years.

We heard she was dying. Then we heard that she had revived and was her old self again.

I told her good bye over the phone.

She died the next day.

I found out about 10 minutes before I was going to get ready for work. I told them I would not be coming in that day. I went to the park and fed ducks, geese and sea gulls. There is no funeral. I did not know what else to do. I posted it on face book. Friends posted condolences. My kids were wonderful and came and brought dinner.

It seems inadequate to let your own mother’s death pass with no ceremony, one day off of work and an intimate dinner with my family.

My daughter brought my favorite flowers and chocolates.

I got three cards.

Grief hits at strange and inopportune times. I hate it.
